Required Education, Skills & Experience
- Possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Possess a valid Class I Kansas Water Supply System Operator Certificate within eighteen months of employment.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and continuously meet WaterOne driving standards.
- Ability to utilize software systems such as Word, Excel, Access, Internet, and Email programs at a basic level.
- Ability to enter operational data at a basic level.
- Ability to comprehend and learn the use of PLC based microprocessors.
- Knowledge of hazardous chemicals handling and qualify as a Hazardous Materials Technician capable of emergency response within one year of employment.
- Ability to comprehend and learn to trouble shoot and calibrate chemical feed machines.
- Ability to read and interpret technical operations manuals.
- Ability to work with and as part of a team of skilled employees.
- Ability to make decisions under high stress situations and to continuously show good judgment in routine decisions.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and written.
- Experience with or the ability to learn and apply all applicable requirements pertaining to hazardous waste operations.
- Ability to pass post offer medical exam, including drug screen and background verification (may not apply to current employees).
Preferred Education, Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of electrical control systems, operation and troubleshooting.
- Mechanical operating abilities & basic plumbing skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally lift/or move up to 100 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to use a computer for five hours a day. The employee must be able to move occasionally from one location to another or be able to remain in a stationary position for up to several hours a day. The employee must be able to use office productivity equipment such as a personal computer, calculator, printer, and copy machine. The employee must be in possession of a licenses and be able to operate a vehicle at any given time. The employee must be able to occasionally position self to inspect, view or perform analytical processes and techniques. The employee must be able to climb ladders and work at heights. The employee must be able to distinguish colors. The employee must be able to meet qualifications for using air purifying and air supplied respiratory protection.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee could be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, fumes, toxic chemicals and heat. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
