Summary/Objective

 

The purpose of this position is to provide support to the Facilities Maintenance Department by providing planning and scheduling services for WaterOne. This position will assist with improving maintenance workforce effectiveness by eliminating the potential for delays and obstacles through proper planning and coordination of parts, equipment, personnel, and contractors using WaterOne’s ERP system and other organizational planning techniques.

 

WaterOne provides competitive benefits and compensation ranges.  Selected candidates are placed in the position’s pay range based on their qualifications.

Midpoint for the Range: $33.80/hr

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Creates, communicates, and updates a consolidated weekly schedule of the non-emergency work assigned to the maintenance shops and coordinates with the Foremen. Facilitates meetings to regularly review schedule with Foreman and internal customers. Monitors the schedule for compliance.
  • Prepares work execution plans using approved maintenance and operation strategies with department Foremen.
  • Creates, distributes, updates, and closes out work orders, addresses backlogged work, and resolves discrepancies.
  • Helps determine material, equipment, and labor needs with department Foremen and creates purchase requests.
  • Identifies emergency work requests received and assigns to the appropriate department Foremen.
  • Schedules, plans, and coordinates the installation of new equipment and rehabilitation of existing systems with department Foremen. Coordinates and enters SAP data for new or modified equipment. 
  • Maintains all necessary records such as fire system inspection reports, condition assessments, hoist inspections, life safety inspections, and work orders.
  • Tracks labor hours, parts, and work order details with history and provides regular reports.
  • Coordinates outside vendor services to achieve schedule compliance. Escorts vendors and contractors to treatment plants, pump stations, and other district facilities.
  • Continuously improves computer maintenance management system (SAP) and processes for purchasing, scheduling, and storage or parts in inventory.
  • Assists with WaterOne’s RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) program. Researches and develops techniques for continued improvement to our reliability program and champions new technologies as they become available. 

 

Other Duties 

  • Conducts research and analysis and prepares reports as needed.
  • Responds to emergency call outs to assist with activities such as scheduling coordination and parts procurement.
  • Fill in as Acting Foreman – Maintenance Coordination as needed.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education, Skills & Experience 

Note: An equivalent combination of education, professional certification, and experience may be considered.

 

  • Associate degree with an emphasis on industrial technology, maintenance, construction management, or environmental science OR a high school degree (or GED) with the added completion of a similar vocational training program.
  • Three years of experience in construction management, engineering, or a maintenance craft (i.e. electrician, mechanical, HVAC/R, or instrumentation and controls).
  • Experience with terms used in Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM).
  • The ability to learn and develop expertise in the Plant Maintenance module of SAP. This includes the ability to develop expertise in processes and transactions as they are developed and implemented.
  • Administrative functions at the discretion of Foreman- Maintenance Planning.
  • Thorough knowledge of, or ability to learn, how Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC/R, Analyzer, SCADA, Structures/Grounds, and Instrumentation crafts inter-relate.
  • Broad knowledge of occupational hazards and safe work practices.
  • Experience with or the ability to learn and apply all requirements pertaining to hazardous waste operations.
  • Thorough understanding of, or be able to, learn the equipment, processes, and structures involved in the operation of a water utility.
  • Ability to be on-site at WaterOne facilities for data collection, contractor supervision, and asset commissioning.
  • Intermediate computer proficiencies in the use of Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Well organized, able to coordinate requests from multiple sources, and able to manage a wide variety of tasks and assignments.
  • Ability to learn and retain complex instructions and processes quickly.
  • Proven ability to take ownership of projects and assignments and initiative to see them through to successful completion.
  • Self-driven and able to accomplish work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work independently in a team-based environment while working amongst shops with different goals. 
  • Experience with inventory control processes and associated software (ERP/CMMS) desired.
  • Possess good decision-making skills and be able to properly prioritize work assignments and other tasks.
  • Proven ability to collect and analyze data and to create or modify processes and methods based on objective data.
  • Experience in working with outside contractors and vendors in order to obtain parts and services necessary to the planning/scheduling function.
  • Ability to communicate effectively between all departments and all levels to build customer consensus and create achievable schedules for all maintenance crafts.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and be a good active listener.
  • Must be available to work occasional overtime or respond to emergency call outs.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and continually meet WaterOne driving standards.
  • Must pass post offer medical exam, including background verification and drug screen (may not apply to current employees).

Preferred Education, Skills & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on maintenance, construction management, engineering, or applied science.
  • Five plus years of previous experience in maintenance planning and scheduling, including coordination of multiple disciplines for a utility, construction, or industrial setting.
  • Five plus years of advanced techniques, such as preventative, predictive, and reliability centered maintenance programs.
  • Five plus years of experience in planning and scheduling processes and procedures and related software applications or ERP system.
  • RCM, VIBE, TPM, Lubrication Excellence, or other maintenance strategy certifications.
  • Advanced/Expert Level computer proficiencies in the use of Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.

The employee must be in possession of a licenses and be able to operate a vehicle at any given time. The employee must be able to ascend and descend ladders to assess equipment.
