Overview

The purpose of this position is to maintain, repair, and install Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration, also known as HVACR, equipment in all WaterOne facilities.

Pay Range:  From $24.04/hr

Responsibilities

  • Maintains HVACR equipment and controls at all WaterOne facilities.
  • Tests, repairs and replaces associated equipment such as such as boilers, chillers, air handling units, pneumatic control systems, electronic control systems, cooling towers, motor starters, pump motors, etc.
  • Repairs and maintains chemical feed systems necessary to maintain cooling tower and boiler water quality.
  • Performs vibration monitoring and dynamic balancing on cooling fans and blowers.
  • Performs preventive maintenance to all HVACR equipment including inspections, adjustments, cleaning, and calibrations to ensure proper operation of equipment.
  • Maintains an inventory of equipment and materials on trucks by periodic checking and restocking.
  • Works with outside contractors as needed.
  • Performs all duties pertaining to hazardous waste operations in accordance with all applicable requirements.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education, Skills & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a HVAC/R vocational school, A.A.S Degree: HVAC, or completion of an HVAC/R apprenticeship program.
  • Four years of experience installing, maintaining, and repairing HVACR equipment.

Note:  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in meeting the above requirements.

  • Current EPA Refrigerant Recovery Type Universal or Type 2 certification (or ability to obtain certification within six months of employment).
  • Ability to troubleshoot malfunctioning heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
  • Experience with and the ability to diagnose and perform needed repairs to equipment or components associated with building automation and climate control systems.
  • Experience in replacing expansion valves, compressors, motors, coil units, and other components of HVACR equipment.
  • Experience in cooling tower and boiler water treatment systems and chemical feeds.
  • Familiar with proper nomenclature of all tools, equipment and materials used in the construction and maintenance of HVACR equipment.
  • Ability to learn and retain knowledge to maintain system control equipment and electric motors, starters, primary pumping units, HVAC units, and structural circuits.
  • Ability to interpret and work from specifications, drawings, blueprints, sketches and verbal orders.
  • Strong basic math skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and basic computer applications.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and continuously meet WaterOne driving standards.
  • Ability to communicte well in English both orally and in writing. Must be a good listener.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with other WaterOne employees.
  • Knowledgeable in proper confined space entry, the safe handling of hazardous chemicals, and all other applicable safety requirements.
  • Experience with or have the ability to learn and apply all applicable requirements pertaining to hazardous work operations.
  • Must be available for emergency call-out.
  • Must pass post offer medical exam, including drug screen and background verification (may not apply to current employees).

Preferred Education, Skills & Experience

  • Experience in troubleshooting and repair to commercial and industrial chillers.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally lift/or move up to 100 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to move occasionally from one location to another or be able to remain in a stationary position for up to several hours a day. The employee must be in possession of a licenses and be able to operate a vehicle at any given time. The employee must be able to occasionally position self to inspect, repair, install and remove various items and be able to ascend and descend ladders to work on equipment. The employee must be able to distinguish colors.
