Pay rate is $17.00 per hour.

 

Job Summary/Objective

 

WaterOne is searching for hard-working, motivated, and passionate students for our Grounds Maintenance department.  This one-of-a-kind job will provide you an opportunity to work with our experienced Grounds Maintenance staff and gain valuable, hands-on experience in property and grounds maintenance.  At WaterOne, we are passionate about what we do and we take pride in being an industry leader.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

 

You will play an important role in maintaining the upkeep and appearance of several WaterOne grounds and facilities.  The Grounds Maintenance crew will landscape WaterOne grounds by mowing grass, trimming hedges, bushes, and trees while also performing several other tasks that are critical to keeping our facilities looking top-notch!  You will have an opportunity to learn from our experts and gain valuable knowledge about grounds maintenance.

  • Performs lawn seeding, sodding, mowing, power raking and trimming of hedges, shrubs and trees.
  • Applies fertilizers, insect sprays and weed control sprays.
  • Inspects and cleans up grounds before mowing to prevent injury or property damage from debris or hidden objects.
  • Sharpens mower blades and performs routine maintenance on lawn equipment.
  • Cuts down dead trees and keeps grounds cleared of tree limbs and trash.
  • Repairs fences, broken windows and does other needed maintenance work as instructed.
  • Performs painting or staining of walls, floors, trim, doors, handrails, pipes, equipment, and other items.
  • Inspects equipment such as mowers, tractors and fertilizer machines to insure they are in proper working order.

Other Duties

 

  • Perform all duties pertaining to hazardous waste operations in accordance with all applicable requirements.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education, Skills & Experience

  • Must be a high school graduate or have a GED and are enrolled in a college, university or votech program.
  • Must be able to work Monday – Friday,  7:00am-3:30pm (40 hours per week) from May until August.  
  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and continuously meet WaterOne driving standards.                
  • Must get along well with WaterOne personnel and others.
  • Must follow instructions properly.
  • Must be able to work safely with tractors, mowers, and other equipment.
  • Must be knowledgeable in proper confined space entry and the safe handling of hazardous chemicals.
  • Must have experience with or have the ability to learn and apply all applicable requirements pertaining to hazardous waste operations.
  • Must pass post offer medical exam, including background investigation and drug screen (may not apply to current employees).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally lift/or move up to 100 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to move occasionally from one location to another or be able to remain in a stationary position for up to several hours a day. The employee must be in possession of a licenses and be able to operate a vehicle at any given time. The employee must be able to occasionally position self to perform grounds maintenance activities and be able to work in outdoor weather conditions. The employee must be able to ascend and descend ladders occasionally. The employee must meet qualifications for using air purifying and air supplied respiratory protection.
