    Summary/Objective

     

    The purpose of this position is to assimilate, review, analyze, and present data and recommend solutions using the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system along with big data and advanced analytics.   Areas of responsibility include management of the Meter Data Management (MDM) system, meter data analytics, and coordination with other Divisions for use of the network utilizing knowledge of customer service practices, meter operations, rules, regulations, utility operations, and integrated utility applications.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions

    • Provide daily operations of the Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) and the Software as a Services (SaaS) for the AMI Headend, MDM, and Customer Portal.
    • Prepare reports and analyze the data to monitor meter health, alarms, and events.
    • Check the percentage of billing reads and interval reads received every day and determine if the Service Level Agreement (SLA) has been achieved and act, if required.
    • Develop and update processes to create virtual meters and support for District Metered Areas (DMAs).
    • Develop systems training materials and provide ongoing training to division end users for the MDM and Customer Portal.
    • Analyze operational data, report on findings, and offer recommendations for improvement, as assigned.
    • Develop and refine the MDM system to automate the creation of notifications. Ensure data is correctly transferring from the MDM to the CIS system.
    • Study reports to identify potential customer water leaks and utilize IVR message system.
    • Develop and monitor program to detect and report backflow and contamination of the distribution system.
    • Uses MDM data to calculate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for water loss programs.
    • Advise on design and maintains customer portal.
    • Partner with meter-related vendors to enhance services and products provided to WaterOne.
    • Evaluate meter performance and customer usage to right-size meters.
    • Assist other Divisions with use of the AMI network and sensors.
    • Document, create, and maintain SOPs for position.

     

    Other Duties

     

    • Assist with planning water loss calculations, strategies, and initiatives.
    • Assist field personnel with information that supports their duties as assigned.
    • Performs other job duties as assigned.

    Required Education, Skills & Experience

     

    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Finance, Engineering or related field.
    • Three years of experience in a customer accounting or customer billing work environment.
    • Three years of experience with a water utility.
    • Two years of experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning application systems.
    • Experience with or the ability to learn AMI Headend and MDM systems.
    • Knowledge of and competency with MS Office software, including advanced skills with Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
    • Demonstrate superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and presentation skills used effectively with all levels of WaterOne personnel and vendor partners.
    • Ability to work effectively with all levels of WaterOne personnel and cross-functionally across Divisions.
    • Excellent decision-making skills and demonstrated use of good judgment.

    Preferred Education, Skills & Experience

     

    • Experience with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
    • Familiarity with data governance concepts.
    • Prior experience with SAP.
