    Under the guidance of the Construction, Maintenance, Valving and Services Management Team, leads the effort to provide training and development opportunities for the Distribution Technician (DT) Program. Tracks, researches, identifies, plans, presents and evaluates training programs for Department Personnel. This training will involve means and methods for field personnel involved in building, operating and maintaining a complex Water Distribution System.

    Essential Functions

    • In conjunction with CMVS Management Team, develop, coordinate and deliver comprehensive technical training to address the needs in the DT Program and to address the other needs in the Department.
    • Assist Subject Matter Expert’s with development and delivery of training. (Safety, GPS, GIS, Operator Certification, etc.)
    • Schedule training at times necessary to meet the needs of DT Program technicians and to meet other Departmental needs.
    • Consider multiple methods for training delivery and select the most effective.
    • Track individual training needs for advancement.
    • Track training needs and completion to ensure an orderly transition between steps in the DT Program.
    • Evaluate DT Program and make recommendations for training and certifications.
    • Continuously enhance instructional delivery and presentation skills.
    • Coordinate delivery of Organization wide training with Learning and Development Leader.
    • Develop/maintain catalog of training materials that can be readily accessed by technicians.
    • Develop and maintain Department Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Conduct new employee orientation to assimilate people into their new positions.
    • Schedule meeting rooms and request physical set up for training sessions.
    • Prepare annual budget consistent with training needs.
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs delivered.

    Required Education, Skills & Experience

    • Associate’s Degree in relevant field required.
    • Minimum of three years’ experience developing and delivering technical training programs required.
    • Ability to plan technical training programs according to departmental requirements and determine course content according to the objectives.
    • Must have demonstrated ability to engage field/construction personnel.
    • Leadership and motivational skills to ensure that individuals receiving training will be engaged and committed to the training process.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills so that essential information is clearly presented in a way that trainees will understand and feel comfortable asking questions.
    • Analytical skills to clearly assess the performance of the trainees and confirm competency achievement.
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple tasks required.
    • Proven group facilitation skills.
    • Ability to perform training needs assessments at all levels of the Department.
    • Experience in designing and developing organization and individual development programs.
    • Must have strong PC skills, including proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Experience with enterprise resource planning software, such as SAP, with SharePoint and Success Factors learning management system is preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a timely manner.
    • Must pass post offer medical exam, including drug screen and background verification (may not apply to current employees).

    Preferred Education, Skills & Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field preferred.
    • Experience in utility or construction work is a plus.

    Physical Requirements

    The employee must be able to move or transport items weighing up 40 lbs. occasionally. The employee must be able to use a computer for several hours a day.  They must be able to move from one location to another (outdoor worksites, WaterOne facilities, etc.) occasionally. The employee must be able to use office productivity equipment such as a personal computer, calculator, printer, and copy machine. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to several hours a day. Additionally, they must be able to wear personal protective equipment and navigate construction sites. Lastly, the employee must be willing to work in all kinds of weather extremes.

    This job operates in both the field and a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment is usually

    moderate except when in the field on a jobsite.
